Bomford updates the Sila-bed for 2011

Bomford says it has made improvements to its Sila-Bed trailed bale shredder and blower for 2011.

It is now fitted with a new design of spout that gives an increased throw when working in bigger buildings or when bedding down larger numbers of cattle.

The angle of the discharge chute has been altered so that the maximum spreading range is now increased to nearly 21m (compared to 18m previously), ensuring that straw can be comfortably blown to the back of the largest of livestock buildings.

A new remote tailgate switch has also been added to the rear of the Sila-Bed. This means that having loaded the bales, and before cutting the strings and securing the bale in place, the tailgate can be quickly lifted without needing to return to the cab.

A new bale post kit is also now fitted to the rear tailgate. This allows longer big square bales to be safely carried, with the securing chain holding the bale wads safely in place even after the strings are cut. This means a more even feed into the shredding rotor, says the company.

The kit also provides extra security when transporting 1.5m round bales by ensuring that the second rear bale can be safely loaded and held in place by the securing chain.
