Pesticide legislation
Q Final ratification of controversial pesticide legislation was expected in Europe yesterday despite objections from UK delegates, Farmers Weekly understands.
The UK delegation said it would vote against the updated pesticides approvals regulation after the vote was brought forward a month from an Agricultural Council meeting, environment minister Dan Norris said.
“The UK cannot support these proposals as they could lead to a reduction in crop yields for no recognisable benefit to human health,” he added.
Postal action delays FW
Q Industrial action by postal workers is affecting the delivery of subscription copies of Farmers Weekly.
We would like to apologise to all those affected by late delivery of their magazine. While the dispute continues there may be further disruption.
