Week-long campaign of activities to promote Welsh farming
© Tim Scrivener Farmers across Wales will take to social media on Monday 6 June in an orchestrated campaign to raise the profile of farming to consumers and policy makers.
It is part of NFU Cymru’s week-long Celebration of Welsh Food and Farming Week.

“We have an exciting week of activities planned across Wales and I hope we can see the industry unite over the course of the week to champion Welsh agriculture,” says union president Aled Jones.
Welsh farmers will be encouraged to take to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on Monday to highlight the importance of Welsh farming to Wales and its communities.
Farmers are encouraged to tweet using the hashtags #WelshFarmingWeek and #WythnosFfermioCymreig and tag NFU Cymru in their posts.
The union will also launch its new policy document during the week, setting out its priorities for the upcoming Agriculture (Wales) Bill, and will also be connecting with school children in Clwyd with the Cows on Tour team.
On Thursday 9 June, the second NFU Cymru Sustainable Farming Conference will take place, this time in Pembrokeshire at Trewarren Farm, St Ishmaels, hosted by Jason and Ros Llewellin, winners of the inaugural NFU Cymru/Wynnstay Sustainable Agriculture Award in 2019.
Politicians are also being drawn into the week with Members of the Senedd invited to on-farm meetings across Wales on Friday 10 June.
Mr Jones said there was no escaping the fact that Welsh farming was facing significant challenges.
“That’s why NFU Cymru felt it was really important to host this series of events to spread positive messaging about our role in feeding the nation healthy, climate-friendly food, while enhancing the environment and ensuring prosperous rural communities,” he said.
