Warning shot costs farmer £100

A FARMER who let off his double-barrelled shotgun into the air to deter what he thought were criminals breaking into his wifes teahouse was fined £100 yesterday.

The “criminals” turned out to be two Scout leaders supervising a night hike.

Michael Hastie admitted causing a breach of the peace at his farm in Balfron Station, West Stirlingshire.

His gun was seized and his gun licence revoked by Central Scotland police after the incident.
