Video: US brothers promote farming with Uptown Funk parody

A farming parody of Uptown Funk made by three US brothers has clocked up more than 125,000 views on YouTube in less than a week.

The Peterson Farm Brothers from Assaria in Kansas, made up of Greg (25), Nathan (22) and Kendal (19), have made a name for themselves over the past three years, producing musical videos with a farming message.

Their latest offering is a mash-up of three songs, but at its heart is an uplifting rendition of the Mark Ronson hit Uptown Funk (scroll to 1.25 mins to go straight to start of Uptown Funk).

The main chorus has been replaced with the words “Farmers feed the world” and the video also features YouTube footage of farming operations from around the world, including Canada, Australia, Brazil, Germany and Ireland.

The family first started making YouTube videos in 2012, when oldest brother Greg had an idea to make a parody music video with his brothers to help educate their city friends about farming.

The video called “I’m Farming and I Grow It” was a version of the song I’m Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO.

Three years later, the brothers have made more than 15 videos, which have acquired a total of 37m views on YouTube.

“There are many misconceptions about modern-day farmers and we feel it is our calling to help correct some of those misconceptions,” says their website.

“Aside from our production on social media, we travel around the country to perform and speak on advocating for agriculture.”

The Peterson family’s most successful video to date is a version on the song Gangnam Style, which has been watched more than 16m times on YouTube.
