Two arrests in poaching attempted murder investigation

Two people have been arrested in connection with a suspected poaching incident where a man was struck by a vehicle near Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire.
The victim, a man in his fifties, was found with serious injuries after reportedly confronting a group of men in a field on Netherton Road on the night of Thursday 24 October 2024.
The men allegedly entered a vehicle, which then struck the victim before fleeing the scene.

The man, who has not been named, was subsequently taken to hospital with life-changing injuries but has since been discharged.
A 37-year-old man from Totton was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Following further evidence, he was re-arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
In addition, a 60-year-old woman from Totton was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
Both have been released on police bail as investigations continue.
District inspector Stuart Ross, from Hampshire Police, said: “This was a serious incident and we know the impact that this has had on the local community.
“I want to reassure people that we do not tolerate this type of offending and are working hard to bring those responsible to justice.”
Hampshire Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
