Trading in sheep quota restarts
By FWi Staff
SHEEP producers in England can start trading 2001 quota from next Tuesday (19 Sept). The notification period will close on 4 February.
From this season onwards, the so-called minimum numbers rule has been scrapped.
This stated that producers had to sell or lease out a specific minimum number of units, determined by the total held. It should now be easier to trade out small amounts of surplus quota.
The sheep annual premium scheme itself opens for applications on 4 December, 2000.
