Scots co-op aid up
GOVERNMENT funding of farm co-operation in Scotland has been increased by 25%.
This takes the annual grant to SAOS, the umbrella organisation for Scottish co-ops, to £297,000.
The money will be used to fund an extra project manager.
James Graham, SAOS chief executive, said it was a clear demonstration of the importance placed by the government in co-operation as a main strategy for the future of farm businesses.
There are 100 farm and rural co-ops in Scotland with a combined turnover of £1bn. *
