TWO new pieces of equipment made their appearance on the Bomford stand at the Highland.
The firms Bandit range of flail mowers now boasts a redesign to produce 1.8m and 2.25m (6ft and 7ft 5in) versions and, on the hedge and verge trimming front, there is now the new B608 model with its 6m reach.
But first the Bandit. The machines subframe can be reversed to allow front or rear tractor mounting and its gearbox can accommodate both left- and right-hand drives. There is also the ability to use either 540 or 1000rpm pto – two pulleys on the main triple vee-belt drive to the rotor are swapped over.
As for the flail, Bomford offers a choice of blades to suit mowing conditions. There is also the option of a hydraulic off-set system; the machine as standard can be moved manually 70cm across the line of the tractor by loosening two bolts.
Included in the spec is a 15cm (6in) diameter rear roller and rubber flaps. Price of the 1.8m model starts at £3570 with the hydraulic offset costing a further £400.
Aimed at the contractor or big farmer is the new B608 hedge-trimmer. Standard spec for the linkage mounted machine is a two-speed 1.2m flail head, self-contained hydraulic circuitry and hydraulic break-back. Power slew is optional.
With cable controls, the standard machine costs £9995.
