Nellys here…new forage lupin seed

FORAGE lupin seed is available for the first time this spring from Advanta Seeds.

Following a two-year trial the company will make lupin variety Nelly available commercially.

Lupins are easy to grow and forage cut in late August/early September yields 3-4t DM/ha (1.2-1.6t/acre) with a crude protein content of about 16.5%, according to the company.

Lupins may provide an alternative to lucerne in areas of the country where soils are too wet and cold to support the latter crop, it adds.
