NCA split proposal could go to a knife-edge

AN extraordinary general meeting today of the National Cattle Association is expected to make heavy weather of a proposal to spit the group into beef and dairy.

A straw poll of the bodies involved show almost equal forced for and against.

Billy Kilpatrick, the chairman, and an Ayrshire dairy farmer, could have to take the deciding vote. He doubts whether a split would be in the vest interests of the cattle industry.
