Lord Mayor’s Show: Farmers join historic parade in London
© NFU Farmers joined one of the country’s most historic parades over the weekend to showcase the best of British food and farming.
The Lord Mayor’s Show returned to the streets of London on Saturday (12 November), and the entry by the Worshipful Company of Farmers took centre stage, supported by the NFU, Massey Ferguson, Red Tractor and Surrey Docks Farm.

A Massey Ferguson 8S.205 tractor took part in the procession alongside a 1952 “Little Grey Fergie”.
They joined a trailer demonstrating the innovation of British farming over the years and the range of sustainable climate-friendly food produced by the nation’s farmers and growers.

The annual show, which was broadcast on BBC One, takes place in the capital to celebrate the new Lord Mayor taking on the role.
Richard Davies, master of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, said: “This year, we are delighted to be highlighting the 70th year of the Worshipful Company of Farmers in the city of London.
“The company is very proud to be a part of the Lord Mayor’s Show and supporting the role our farmers play in producing food for the nation.”
The NFU’s student and young farmer ambassadors joined the Worshipful Company of Farmers, along with representatives for Red Tractor and young people from Surrey Docks Farm.

NFU deputy president Tom Bradshaw said: “British farming’s participation in the parade gives us a great opportunity to showcase our proud industry – one that produces sustainable, climate-friendly food alongside protecting and maintaining our environment, to the thousands of people on the streets of London and to the millions watching on television.”
