Leaflets tackle menace dogs
FARMERS in East Sussex have launched a campaign to stem the rising tide of dog attacks on sheep.
Four thousand leaflets showing the bloody aftermath of an attack have been distributed in the Crowborough area, where more than 200 sheep have been savaged by dogs in the past two years. The leaflets warn: "Your pet can be a killer – keep it under control."
Sue Scott, spokeswoman for the NFU south-east region, said the campaign was deliberately des-igned to make people stop and think about the consequences of letting their dogs roam unchecked.
"Most dog owners regard themselves as animal lovers, but an increasing number of people seem to be absolving themselves of any responsibility for their pets. We want to confront them with the result," she said.
