ONE of the founders of the most recent cow families established in the Lastone Holstein Friesian herd made the top price of 4700gns recently.
The event was the retirement sale for Sheffield breeder William Shepard at Penrith.
Hayleys Lizzie 5th is by Prelude and out of a Tradition cow and was one of several purchases bringing new breeding from Peter Padfield. Buyers were W M Hutchinson and Sons, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, owners of the Bowberhill herd.
Anson Farms, Stafford, made the days second highest call paying 4000gns for Lastone Renaomi 17th, a May calved heifer by Boulet Charles.
Richard Ratcliffe, a regular buyer of good cattle over recent weeks for his Airway herd in Cheshire, paid 3400gns for Moet Aerostar Marissa, an Ex-90 third calver with a PIN of +£66.
Lastone Akretta 10th, by Singing-Brook manager, went to G T Nicholson and Sons Wolfcrag herd at Whitby at 3300gns. (Norton and Brooksbank)
