Land agent in Belgian link

FPDSavills is expanding its activities in continental Europe, signing an agreement of association with Belgium-based rural property consultants Agriland this week.

The deal will see both companies exchanging business, helping to introduce potential investors to their respective markets. Although Agriland is much the smaller company, (with just 12 employees), it has good connections throughout the Benelux countries, as well as Italy, Spain and Germany.

"They also have clients from outside the EU who are keen to invest in central Europe, where we already have a strong presence," says FPDSavills head of land management, Antony Lumby.

But Mr Lumby predicts a steady two-way flow of business, with Agriland already putting forward continental investors keen to buy into UK agriculture – especially in Scotland.

Fees will be shared on an agreed scale, with the company doing the lions share of the work on any one project picking up the bulk of the commission. &#42
