How feed method affects aggression

OUTDOOR pigs are most confrontational when fed on the ground over a restricted area and in high density paddocks. Trials carried out by Cambac JMA Research found feeding method had a greater effect on behaviour than stocking density. It also reports that more than 90% of sows practiced stone-chewing, even when lying down, but says that it has not yet established whether this is harmful or not.
