Game body wants boar eradicated
WILD boar at large in the countryside in southern England should be eradicated, claims the Game Conservancy Trust.
It has called on the government to act, insisting that it would be irresponsible to do nothing. "While there is not a major problem at the moment, these populations will increase and could get out of hand," a spokesman said.
The trusts main concerns are that boar can cause traffic accidents and possible hazards to walkers.
Free range pigs could also be infected with fatal diseases, such as swine fever or Aujeszkys.
, through contact with wild boar.
