Farmer to appear in court over telehandler incident

A farmer has been ordered to appear in court after allegedly flipping over a car that was wrongly parked in front of a farm gate on private land.

Durham Constabulary said a 57-year-old-man would face charges of criminal damage and dangerous driving over the incident, which happened at a farm in the Teesdale area on Saturday 5 June.

Following the incident, footage appeared on Facebook and Twitter that allegedly showed a yellow Kramer telescopic loader pick up and toss a grey Vauxhall saloon car on to its side.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: “A 57-year-old man has been reported for the offences of criminal damage and dangerous driving.

“A court date has not yet been set.

“A 20-year-old who was interviewed in relation to an assault during the same incident has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
