Farm insurance on web
Farm insurance on web
TYPICAL savings of 30% on insurance premiums are claimed for Farmguard, a new computerised service for farmers.
All dealings are conducted over the internet, exploiting the number-crunching power of computers. That cuts administration costs which can traditionally account for 40% of the cost of premiums, says Northampton-based broker and scheme developer Hammon Osborne.
"Now farmers can have 24-hour access to farm insurance services which provide better cover for a lot less money," says managing director Godfrey Hammon. The Royal & SunAlliance underwrite the new service, located at www.farmguard.co.uk.
Meanwhile, a more traditional range of policies has been launched by broker RK Harrison. As well as providing standard cover including livestock, produce, machinery and liabilities, Greenbelt can be tailored to individual requirements.
Specialist cover includes damage to house and contents, farm buildings and arable enterprises, the specialist needs of organic farming and cover for shoots. The range can be adapted to allow for changes in legislation, markets and weather conditions, says director Giles Wood.
