ELECTRONIC ear tags costing a third of the price of many imported tags are available with the Eureka 111 radio frequency identification system, says UK manufacturer Avonwood Develop-ments.

The company adds that the compact tag design makes it easy to fit to a pig, cattle or sheep ear, reducing the risk of losses.

Using the Eureka 111 electronic management system provides total accuracy of breeding, feeding and medical data through each animals life, says Avonwood. Antennas that provide a radio link to each tag, transmitting data to the decoder, could be located in a feeding system, parlour or hand-held.
