Debut for high output elevator
Debut for high output elevator
A HIGH capacity potato elevator capable of conveying up to 100t/hour has been introduced by Suffolk-based EW Downs and Son.
Designated the Wolfhound 75/1340, the elevator has two boom options – a standard 9.5m (31ft) version for heaping potatoes 4m (13ft) high or a longer 14m (46ft) type for stacking to 6.2m (20ft).
For gradual layering of potatoes, the elevator can be slewed to an arc of 26m (86ft). Control is instigated by either manual or automatic operation. In manual operation, a push button console is used to control boom raise/lower, slew and delivery belt speeds. Automatic operation is controlled by computer through settings predetermined by the operator.
For power, the 75cm (29in) wide belt, together with slew and lift rams are activated by the conveyors own hydraulics – powered by 4kw electric motors.
Weighing 2.3t, the elevator lowers to a 1.6m (5ft) transport height. Price is £19,870. *
