Danish milk and vegan spread served at Lamma – farmers react
Farmers have reacted with incredulity that their breakfast at Lamma 2017 was served with long-life UHT milk from Denmark and spread labelled as vegan.
The products were given to farmers on Thursday (19 January) morning at the main restaurant in the Peterborough Arena, home to the UK’s largest farm machinery show, which hosts 50,000 farmers annually.

“How are we expected to promote British produce if one of our biggest shows isn’t even encouraging it?” said dairy farmer, Fraser Jones.
He added: “The caterers said I hadn’t been the only one to complain about the breakfast – it just isn’t acceptable at an agricultural show.”
When asked for comment, a spokesman for the Lamma show said the products served were down to its catering company and would not comment as to whether they checked if the food on offer was British.
The move flies in the face of the NFU’s Back British Farming campaign and was met with a mixture of shock and anger on social media.
