FARM supplier Dalgety Group has finally succeeded in acquiring a majority share in one of Central Europes leading agrochemical distributors.

After months of talks between company officials, Dalgety acquired a 51% share in Romania-based Gavem International, which imports products from Monsanto, Dow and BASF.

Gavems turnover last year was estimated at £14 million. Dalgety plans to increase Gavems throughput to £40m within five years. It will also expand Gavems portfolio to include grain trading, seeds and fertiliser.

Dalgety first branched out into Central European last year by launching its arable supplies business AgraPolska in Poland. The company is understood to be looking for an annual turnover of £500m from the region with 10 years.
