Cut red tape plea

LAND owners have called for the government to spearhead an offensive against excessive red tape, which, they say, is strangling enterprise and jobs in the countryside.

The Country Landowners Association wants ministers to take action to cut the "avalanche of controls, rules and regulations which continue to pour out of Brussels, Westminster and Whitehall".
