Farmer arrested after ‘hog-tying’ trespassers
A farmer who “hog-tied” two alleged trespassers and drove them on his quad bike to his local police station has been arrested for his actions.
The 52-year-old farmer from Trawden, Lancashire, allegedly took matters into his own hands when dealing with two individuals who had previously ridden an electric bike across his land.
When the two men returned to retrieve their bike, the farmer allegedly tackled them to the ground and bound their hands and feet.

He then placed the individuals – one a teenager, the other in his 20s – on his quad bike and drove them four miles to Colne Police Station.
Upon arrival, police found the men tied up, face down on the vehicle. A photograph shows the hooded individuals lying unsecured on the front and rear of the quad bike.
But the farmer was himself detained by officers on suspicion of false imprisonment and assault.
A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: “We were called to a remote property in Trawden at 11.26am on Sunday (20 October) by a man who said he had detained two males.
“While police were making their way to the property, we received a second call from the man to say he was now at Colne Police Station with the two males he had detained.”
One of the detained men told The Sun newspaper: “The farmer came up behind us and jumped off his quad bike and tackled us to the ground. We couldn’t move. I was on the back of the quad bike and my friend at the front.”
The farmer has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
