63 stolen sheep recovered after police appeal

Following a public appeal, 63 out of the 75 sheep stolen from a farm in Rhydlewis, near Newcastle Emlyn, have been recovered.
The sheep were returned after a four-day operation by Dyfed Powys Police.
They were taken some time between 7 and 17 March and were found at three separate locations within the police’s jurisdiction.

The sheep were described as white-faced with clean white wool and a faint yellow spot, resembling a continental crossbreed like a Texel cross.
Inspector Matthew Howells thanked the public for their help.
“I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal, and the appeal from the owner, which was shared over 700 times and reached communities all over Wales and further afield,” he said.
“The support from farming communities near and afar has been vitally important in securing a positive outcome.
“I’d also like to thank those who came forward with information which enabled my officers to respond quickly, ensuring the safe return of these animals to their rightful owner.”
A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft in relation to the incident and has been released on bail while further investigations continue.
Police are continuing their enquiries as they work to resolve the case.
