Compact, but good extra unit
Compact, but good extra unit
AFTER 21 years with North Yorks firm Northallerton Estate Agency, chartered surveyor and land agent Robin Jessop has decided to strike out alone with the formation of his own business.
Despite the decline in agricultural incomes he is bullish about the prospects for sole traders in the profession. "When farming is in a downturn farmers and landowners need good advice."
As well as plenty of consultancy work Mr Jessop is kicking off his solo career with the launch of Rawcar Farm, Streetlam, near Northallerton. He is selling the 100-acre predominantly arable farm for £500,000-600,000 and says, despite its compact size, producers will be keen. "I am fairly confident it will go to a farmer looking for an extra unit or a farm for his son."
But he does not rule out local non-farming interest in the four-bedroom house. "It is in the middle of the holding in a very attractive location." *
