Claas rolls along with round balers and a wrapper
TWO heavy duty round baler ranges and a wrapper are set to complement the Claas range of machinery for this season.
Designed to provide greater reliability and higher output, the balers include the fixed and variable chamber Rollant 255 and Variant 280.
Firm-centred bale
The Rollant 255 comes with Claas Roto-Cut chopping and employs the Maximum Pressure System (MPS) to achieve a firm-centered bale 1.25m in diameter.
To better support the weight of the bale, cast iron bearings with a larger surface area are now used on three rollers.
The Variant 280, which can be specified with Roto-Cut and Roto-Feed formats, is designed to produce a high-density bale from 90cm to 1.80m in diameter.
Fitted with an extra wide 2.21m pick-up, the baler uses five high strength jointless belts which turn at a speed of 2.7m/sec.
Bale density is adjusted hydraulically using three rams, while a spring pack with tensioning arms serve to keep the belts taut.
Claas is also set to introduce its Rollant 255 Uniwrap after a seasons testing. The bale and wrap system uses a twin rotary arm to apply 750mm film to bales.
Unlike other machines on the market, Claas says quick release couplings enable the wrapper to be detached and allow the baler to work solo.
Price of a basic spec Rollant 250 and Variant 280 are £17,475 and £18,300. *
