Cheaper fruit and veg help bring down inflation to 2.5%
CHEAP fruit and vegetables contributed to a “surprise” decline in inflation from 2.7% in December to the Government target of 2.5% last month.
Analysts said it could be a one-off, helped by an unusual fall in seasonal food prices and by heavy discounting after disappointing Christmas trading.
