Brown drops ban on green top milk
AGRICULTURE Minister Nick Brown has decided against a ban on the sale of unpasteurised milk, which was proposed by his department more than a year ago.
Instead, tougher hygiene checks will be imposed on producers of untreated milk, including more frequent testing for microbiological contamination.
Labels on “green top” milk will also have to carry a warning that it could cause health problems for pregnant women, the young and elderly, and the sick.
