Best bid of 1750gns for Blonde heifer
A SMALL entry of Blonde dAquitaine bulls produced a disappointing trade at Ross-on-Wye last week, but females fared better.
Top call at the Breeders Society spring show and sale was 1750gns from Scottish breeder Col W G McHardy, Kincardine to secure Kinaston Libby from R E Kinnish, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
Col McHardy, one of the original importers of the breed, bought this unserved heifer after it had stood supreme champion but was passed out of the ring at 1500gns.
By Bacton Gareth, a Tonnerre son, and out of a cow by Madeni Bleddyn, the heifers breedinggoes back to some of the foundation stock imported by ColMcHardy.
The sale, sponsored by FW, saw bulls reach 1500gns given byT G B and S M Thomas, Carmarthen for Regis Leo.
This Hadley Falcon son was from J Wilson and Son.
