Beet applications

ABOUT 80 farmers have applied to become new sugar beet growers under the British Sugar outgoer scheme (Business, Oct 5), which ended on Monday.

BS area managers are now discussing agronomy and operational aspects with them, to see whether they will get the quota they have applied for. "Most growers have acquired Contract Tonnage Entitlement, some getting over 2000t," notes BSs Paul Bee. &#42
