…as Sims Foods still suffers
SIMS Foods, the meat processor and supplier, has suffered further losses in the wake of the BSE crisis.
The company is in the red to the tune of £27.5m for the year to March 31, an improvement on a loss of £49.3m last time. Turnover was down to £111.9m from £175.6m last time, mainly because of the European ban on UK beef exports.
The company has agreed to sell its retail business, which slaughters and packs red meat for supermarkets, for £12.2m. Dawn, one of Irelands largest private companies, is the purchaser.
