SHEEP quota trading for the 2000 sheep annual premium scheme in England opens on Sept 14 and runs until Feb 4, 2000, MAFF has announced.
Producers must use at least 70% of their sheep quota otherwise the unused portion will be withdrawn without compensation, it warns.
Farmers must ensure they have enough quota to meet proposed transactions, particularly those who did not use all their quota in previous years who may now be subject to reductions under usage rules.
The scheme opens for applications on Dec 4, 1999.
Separate but similar arrangements are being made for other regions. Forms received after the deadline will be rejected. *
