Farmers, agronomists and research scientists attended the first Arable Horizons interactive lecture on 17 November at Syngenta’s Jealott’s HIll International Research Facility.
Dr Alison Bentley, director of genetics and breeding at NIAB presented the first in a series of talks looking at the future scientific developments that look set revolutionise the way we farm over the next 30 years.
Dr Bentley’s talk focused on the range of technological developments that are most likely to bring about practical benefits to UK farmers: genome sequencing, diversity breeding, genetic modification, gene-editing and breeding methods.
Delegates at the event had the opportunity to question the speaker, take part in live polls and network with their peers.
