Vredestein tyres for the mid-size tractor market
Vredestein has launched a new range of tyres suitable for mid-sized tractors.
The Traxion 85 shares many of the features of the Dutch company’s larger Traxion+ tyres, but extends to sizes more appropriate for sub-150hp tractors.
These new tyres are designed to cater for the most popular wheel sizes that are standard fitment for many of the tractors in this sector.
However at present Vredestein is not an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for any of the major tractor makers.
The firm says that this is not a reflection of lack of demand but more a symptom of running at full production capacity to supply the more profitable replacement market.
And in the replacement field Vredestein is not one of the cheapest options.
So, with this in mind, how can the company expect to sell its new tyre in quantity?
“Knowing that we’re not the lowest-priced we have to offer value for money and show farmers a return on their investment,” says Peter Schrijver, Vredestein product manager.
“Our tyres have a number of characteristics that improve working efficiency and extend working life.”
Key to this is said to be the distinctive curved lug design of the Traxion range.
Because the cleats turn from a diagonal orientation to run in line with the direction of travel – almost forming a continuous bar around the centre of the tyre – transport comfort is claimed to be significantly improved.
This also extends tyre life where a lot of haulage work is undertaken.
In addition, because the new tyres have the same load rating both at 40kph and 50kph, users have the opportunity to reduce tyre pressures if travelling at lower transport speeds.
This flexibility gives the scope to reduce ground pressure in the field and therefore limit soil damage.
