HiSpec adds push-off headboard to 20t PD20 dump trailer
HiSpec has adapted the load-ejecting front wall of its Kompactor models for use on its latest PD20 Dump Trailer.
The hydraulically operated headboard has the power to jettison up to 28t of material through the up-and-over rear tailgate, which comfortably exceeds the maximum heaped carrying capacity of about 20t (14.5cu m).
Benefits of this setup compared with a standard tipper include the ability to safely offload without the risk of it toppling over on a slope or clouting the girders of a shed roof.

The other advantage, says HiSpec, is that it can be used to delicately discharge a load when on the move, which will be a boon for anyone who regularly lays hardcore or road planings on farm tracks.
And, because it goes without a tipping ram and the associated hinge points, the centre of gravity is lower and the load height is just 2.4m.
As a result, tractor drivers should have a better view to the inside of the body.
Once emptied, and with the tailgate closed, the headboard can be retracted on the move, which should also speed up turnaround times.
Both the bed (8mm thick) and walls (6mm) and made with Hardox steel, the chassis includes a hydraulically sprung drawbar with bolt-on swivel hitch, and it runs on a parabolic sprung tandem commercial axle fitted with air-over-hydraulic brakes and 525/65 R20.5 tyres.
Other items included with the standard spec are LED road lights, a strobe beacon, and brackets for attaching a load cover.
