New G5 display for John Deere’s six-cylinder tractors
John Deere will integrate its new G5 Command Center display into all 6, 7, 8 and 9-series tractors next year.
The G5 range includes two portable displays that can be fitted to any brand, with the firm’s plug-and-play JDLink M Modem allowing crop and machinery data to be sent to and from the farm office free of charge via the John Deere Operations Center.

There are also two integrated versions specifically for John Deere tractors – the standard 10.1in G5 and the G5Plus that, at 12.8in, is 33% larger than the G4.
This has more memory and a much faster processor than its predecessor, but the user interface remains the same, which should make the upgrade seamless for operators.
A redesigned licence programme to unlock specific features means farmers and contractors will only have to pay for the elements they want, something Deere says will reduce upfront costs.
Standard features on all models from the six-cylinder 6Rs to the 9Rs include job documentation, data sync, JDLink telematics, variable rate application, section control and AutoTrac guidance.
Tractor changes
John Deere’s popular 6R is also set to gain some hardware improvements for next year, including a reworked steering column and new steering wheel that is apparently more comfortable to grasp
A new damping system will be available on Premium and Ultimate seats, too.
The 2023 7R will gain larger steering cylinders and an “automotive-type steering system”, activated via the Command Center, that naturally centres itself to make it easier to hold a straight line.
Two additional front brake discs should also improve performance on the road.
Updates to the 7, 8 and 9-series tractors centre on a new high-res corner post display and built-in Starfire 7000 receivers.
