Low-cost Solis 90hp loader tractor comes in at £32K
Budget Indian maker Solis is hoping to ruffle some feathers among the established players with the arrival of its highest horsepower tractor yet – the 90hp S90 XL.
Better known for its keenly priced compact models, the firm has been steadily getting a foothold in the UK market.
However, the arrival of more powerful conventional tractors shows that it’s got loftier ambitions.

Under the S90 XL’s bonnet nestles a 4.1-litre four-cylinder engine built by Solis’ parent company ITL.
In addition to the 90hp power output, it delivers a peak torque of 375Nm at 1,400rpm and meets Tier 5 emissions standards with a DOC, DPF and a sniff of AdBlue.
The aforementioned gearbox comes with 12 ratios as standard and offers a top speed of 35kph, although picking the optional creeper version ups the number of cogs to 20 and allows it to go 40kph.
Additional features include switchable four-wheel drive, a mechanical diff-lock and two speed 540/540e pto. However, this can be substituted for a 540/1000rpm version.
The back end is also home to a 65-litre/min hydraulic pump which supplies a pair of spool valves and a Cat 2 three-point linkage rated to 3,000kg. There’s also the option of adding hydraulic trailer brakes.
Opting for the fully enclosed cab brings in the luxury of air conditioning and there’s the option of adding a tiltable, telescopic steering column, integrated loader joystick and a plusher seat.
Early models are due to land in the UK imminently and one of the first dealers to have stock will be Gloucestershire-based Iron and Earth. Its high-spec examples will be priced just shy of £32,000.
