Thousands of farmers take part in nationwide tractor protests
Thousands of farmers took part in go-slow tractor demonstrations across the UK on Friday 10 January, protesting against a host of anti-farming government policies, with what has been described as “heartwarming support from the public”.
An estimated 2000 tractors took to the streets across 40 different protests, spanning the length and breadth of the UK, and led by national farmer campaign group Farmers To Action.

“Axe the tax”, “Beep if you eat”, “For food, for freedom, for future”, “Starmer the farmer harmer” and “Back British farming” were just a few of the many boards and posters on display.
A Farmers To Action spokesperson noted: “Today has gone brilliantly. We’ve had lots of positive feedback from the public, with thumbs-up and beeping as tractors have driven by. It’s been a very heartwarming experience and great to get exposure right across the country. We all need to come together now.”
Another spokesperson noted: “Implementing policies like inheritance tax that unfairly burden farmers and rural families is undermining the very foundation of our domestic food supply – it’s time to stop just talking about change and start making it happen.”
