Tobroco Giant launches battery-powered pivot-steer telehandler

Dutch firm Tobroco Giant has unveiled three new pivot-steer loaders, including its first electric version to feature a telescopic boom.
This provides significantly more reach than its existing battery-powered model, broadening its appeal to livestock farmers in need of a machine to stack bales, fill trailers and so on.
The standard G2700E comes with a 260Ah lithium-ion battery pack that should be good for a runtime of between three and five hours. However, this can be extended to nearer eight hours by upgrading to a 390Ah or 520Ah setup.

Recharging the cells from 20% to 80% takes three-and-a-half hours using the on-board system. But this can also be improved by opting for a 150amp or 300amp fast charger, the latter quickening the process to just 50min.
The batteries run two electric motors, the first of which is a 7kW unit that drives the wheels to a top speed of 20kph. The second, rated at 12kW, powers the 40 litre/min hydraulic system.
This works the boom, which will reach to a maximum height of 3.7m, and provides oil for a double-acting third service.
The other new models, the G2700 Tele HD and HD+, are powered by a conventional 50hp Kubota engine, but are otherwise largely the same.
They are set to go on sale at the end of this year, with prices for the electric version expected to start at about £60,000. A fast-charge kit will likely add about £5,500.
