Lamma 2025: Extra lift capacity for Manitou MLT 742-140
The introduction of a tougher boom on its ag-spec telehandlers has allowed Manitou to bump up lifting capacity throughout the range.
New model numbers have been introduced as a result, with the pictured MLT 742-140 able to lift 4.2t, compared with 4.1t on its 741 predecessor.
Perhaps more significant is the fact it can handle an extra half-tonne of weight when lifted to full height.

The design has filtered down from the firm’s larger machines, and uses a profiled rather than rectangular shape for added strength, as well as a heavy-duty cast end section. Â
It also allows machines fitted with an auto-greasing system to lubricate the boom and headstock, which wasn’t possible before.
To complement the update, Manitou has introduced some welcome cab enhancements such as a more efficient ventilation system, wider armrest and plusher heated seat.
Mudguards have been improved, too, with versions tailored to give better coverage when different sized wheels are fitted.
Prices should be similar to the outgoing models when they become available later in the year.
