Well, now there is a welding app developed by Fronius that can help you understand the basics of the art before you have a go at the real thing.

Available on Android and iOS platforms, Fronius Welducation Basic has multiple-choice quizzes to help swot up on the joining process along with games to virtually practice welding.

Of course it is not a replacement for the real thing, but it can get a novice the basic knowledge they need to start, before they are let loose on a cultivator.

The touchscreen game allows your finger to become the welding torch, with different levels and types of welding on offer. There’s a virtual trainer within the app to provide hints and tips such as speed and position.
