Diddy motion-detecting Kenwood dashcam improves security

Appliance maker Kenwood is selling a new range of dashcams that might appeal to farmers and contractors clocking hundreds of road miles.

The cameras in the DRV range are small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, allowing them to be mounted discreetly behind the tractor’s rear-view mirror.

Yet they have the capacity to film at resolutions of between 1080p and full 4K – with sound – and there is space for a 2in colour touchscreen on the back that can be used to check the lens is aimed correctly.

Footage can be viewed via Kenwood’s smartphone app, which pairs with the camera via Bluetooth or wifi.

The company also has a new waterproof camera that can be fitted externally, powered by a 5.5m cable.

Buyers that opt for the complete hardwire kit get the benefit of motion detection, whereby the system either films continually on time-lapse when the vehicle is stationary, or is triggered into recording when vibration or motion is detected.

Prices for the new DRV range start at £120.
