Bobcat designs remote control system for skidsteer loaders

Bobcat has unveiled a nifty new remote control system for its compact loaders that allows operators to leave their cab and control the machine remotely.

The kit is compatible with its skidsteer, compact track and all-wheel-steer loader models equipped with selectable joystick controls

The company claims it is the first to offer the arrangement in-house, rather than as an add-on development from a third party.

Perks of controlling the machine from afar include limitless visibility, reduced impact of noise and vibrations, and the ability to operate it in dangerous situations, says Bobcat.

The system involves a portable radio remote control that can be mounted and dismounted on machines in a couple of minutes, leaving the standard loader in its original form.

Every remote-control kit is protected by a dedicated password, with two-way communication providing any important fuel, oil and warning information on a 3.5in LCD display.

It allows operators to perform most of the loader’s regular functions, including throttle, light, creep and float controls.

There is also speed management to allow easier operation in applications such as trenching.

Attachment options include augers, breakers, buckets, snow blowers, trenchers and wheelsaws.

The remote control kit will be commercially available later this year.
