Horsch shrinks Leeb self-propelled with new 5,000-litre VT
Horsch has broadened its Leeb self-propelled sprayer range with a new Variable Track (VT) machine that joins the VL and VN models introduced back in 2021.
It carries a tank of either 5,000 or 6,000-litre capacity, with FPT engines of 230hp and 300hp respectively, making it the smallest machine the company has built to date.

Unlike the VN and VL models, which were developed for big-acre export markets including North America, Australia and Brazil, the new VT is aimed squarely at European buyers looking for a high output self-propelled with power-assisted variable track widths.
Based on the well-proven PT chassis, the VT offers adjustable track widths extending from 1.8m to 2.4m.
Standing on 520/80 R46 wheels, it provides 1.3m of ground clearance and can be specified with boom widths extending from 24m to 48m and 25cm nozzle spacing. Pulse-width modulation is optional.
The axle suspension system is the same hydro-pneumatic setup initially developed for the VL and VN models, and it is available with a transmission rated to either 40kph or 50kph.
There’s also the option of downsizing the boots to 480/80 R50s.
Another new feature is the updated Claas X11 cab, which will be a replacement for the Claas X10 unit used on the firm’s sprayers.
Order books are open, with full production scheduled to start by July 2024. Prices have yet to be announced.
Growing market
Horsch Leeb now considers itself to be the largest self-propelled crop sprayer manufacturer in Europe.
Its Crop Care production facility at Landau in Bavaria is undergoing a huge 16,000 sq m expansion programme, which will enable the family-owned company to produce some 600 self-propelled units next year.
