J Riley pens deals for five more slurry applicator ranges

Vervaet self-propelled spreader importer J Riley aims to become a one-stop shop for slurry and digestate handling equipment by taking on agencies for complementary equipment from several other manufacturers.

Bomech trailing shoe applicators, Evers disc cultivator, injector disc and strip-till attachments, TBL Techniek grass injectors, and Vogelsang booms are all now part of the company’s portfolio, along with trailed slurry tankers from Kumm-Technik.

Matt Carse, managing director, said: “We have always sold our self-propelled machines complete with an applicator, so this development is the logical progression to expand and secure this part of the business.”

Former Vogelsang employees Sion Williams and Richard Sockett have joined the company to bring their expertise in slurry equipment, and a service depot is being established in Shropshire to complement the headquarters near Norwich in Norfolk.

Sion Williams noted: “Large or small, we can offer everything from a standard trailed tanker with a 7.5m trailing shoe applicator to a self-propelled machine with a top-of-the-range 36m dribble bar.

“We’re catering for everyone from the family-run dairy farm looking to improve their slurry management to the largest contractor servicing multiple AD plants.”

Dutch deals

Dutch manufacturer Bomech is a familiar name for the trailing shoe surface applicators it builds in 7.5m to 30m sizes, while Evers Agro is best known for its injectors that enable full-width or strip-till stubble cultivation at the same time as mixing slurry or digestate into the soil profile.

The Toric, with two rows of fixed-angle 510mm discs, and the Toric Vario with variable-angle 560mm discs, come in widths up to 6.7m and 6.6m, respectively, together with a Vogelsang chopper/distributor.

Toric Mono versions, meanwhile, have a single row of discs followed by mixing/covering tines and come in widths up to 9m.

Another Dutch manufacturer, TBL Techniek, and German tanker specialist Kumm-Technik are newcomers to Britain.

TBL produces single- or double-disc shallow injectors featuring auto lube, hydraulic down-pressure for consistent working depth, and hydraulic lift of individual injector assemblies or sections to avoid wasteful application overlaps.

Basic “Plus” models come in 5.25m to 9m widths, while the higher-spec Compact Profi comes in 9m to 15m sizes.

Kumm-Technik’s field tankers will be available in twin- and tri-axle form and sizes from 16,500 to 31,000 litres, with transport tankers also in the company’s product range.
