Taller tyres for Bredal’s K-series XE fertiliser spreader

A fourth addition to Bredal’s K-series XE lime and fertiliser spreaders not only gives large farms and contractors a new size option, but also the ability to have taller tyres installed for reduced ground pressure, even when working along tramlines.

The K110 XE has an 11cu m hopper shaped to accommodate wheels up to 2m diameter, which compares with the 1.65m limit available to the 9cu m K105, 12cu m K135 and 15.6cu m K165 – each of which can have a hopper extension fitted for added volume.

All Bredal K-XE spreaders can be fitted with weigh cells, and come with a fold-down spreading unit that positions the hydraulically driven discs 6m apart.

This gives up to 30m working width when handling lime, 40m for urea and 48m for other fertilisers.

The spreaders can have a pto-driven hydraulic pump to drive the discs, leaving the tractor’s hydraulics to power the conveying elements, and an integrated tilt sensor enables dosage rates to be adjusted automatically when operating on hilly terrain.

On XE/SC models, the isobus electronics that come as standard have the additional feature of section control, and the ability to compensate for angled headlands, and where tramlines converge.

Priced from £96,230 on 750/60 R30.5s tyres through importer KRM, the new K110 XE’s provision for large diameter tyres, providing an elongated footprint within a practical overall width, is a key feature that contractors and farmers have asked for, says Bredal.

By having the least possible impact on the soil, they improve the machine’s “accessibility” to fields in less than ideal conditions, while also making the spreaders easier to pull. Tall but narrow tyres are still an option for top-dressing in tramlines and row crops.
