Nexat wide-span tractor gets supersized Amazone spreader

The versatility and usability of the Nexat wide-span “tractor” continues to develop as the 1,100hp machine attracts more implement options.
Latest among them is a mineral fertiliser spreading system developed in conjunction with Amazone, and a twin-disc no-till drill module from Canadian air seeder maker K-Hart Industries.

They join a growing roster of complementary equipment such as Vaderstad’s Tempo precision seed drill and 14m Cultus HD heavy tine cultivator for overall or strip-till stubble tillage, and the Einbock Chopstar-Max XXL arable crop weeder.

For liquid fertiliser and agrochemicals there is Dammann’s 17,000-litre, up to 56m package, there’s a 32cu m slurry tank with trailing shoe, Evers disc injector or disc harrow applicators; and for harvesting, Nexat’s own combine conversion complete with Gerringhoff header.
Twin spreaders
Amazone’s contribution comprises a pair of 10,000-litre ZG trailed spreader hoppers sitting atop the Nexat’s monocoque beam chassis and a TS twin-disc spreading unit mounted on the back.
The hoppers deliver fertiliser into a central container from which it is augered to a vestigial reception hopper on the spreading assembly to gravity-feed the two hydraulically driven broadcasting discs.
Potential spreading widths of up to 54m means the setup comfortably spreads wider than the vehicle’s 14m span as it rolls along single-wheel tramlines.
Meanwhile, K-Hart’s direct-drilling module is an adaption of the manufacturer’s Spyder air drill, which is produced in trailed sizes up to 23m and uses UK farmer/engineer Tony Gent’s undercut double-disc opener design.
For the Nexat, the drill module comprises a rigid frame slung under the vehicle’s chassis between its large electrically-driven wheels or tracks, resulting in only 5% of the field being “trafficked” during this and similar operations, and much less with spraying and other applications over a wider working width.
