New spreader system aims to give farmers greater control
Gloucestershire high-tech kit firm RDS Technology was showing its new Isocan Apollo spreader-control system and 7in colour screen at the Precision Farming Event.
It’s mainly aimed at anyone with muck or chicken litter to spread and lets you control the speed of any belt or chain system.

You can run the system in manual or auto mode and set forward speed, speed of belt or chain, spread width and target spread rate in t/ha or kg/ha. In manual mode, you can put on more or less material according to eye, while in the auto setting the machine will slow down and speed up to maintain the same application rate. Â Â
If you have load cells on your spreader, the system will calibrate itself every five to 10 seconds.
It will also give you a record of how much has been put on to provide evidence of traceability and there’s USB and SD card ports for storing the information.
The system will also work with GPS soil maps.
It’s available for OEMs and farmers/contractors alike and cameras can be fitted too. Price hasn’t been set yet, though.
